An annual flu vaccine is recommended for the following groups of Veterans: (1) persons at high risk for flu-related complications including persons aged 50 years old and greater, (2) persons of any age with chronic medical illnesses, such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease and (3) persons who live with or care for persons at high risk. VA Encouraging Veterans to obtain their influenza vaccination this flu-season
SAN ANTONIO – The South Texas Veterans Health Care System is encouraging enrolled Veterans to obtain their influenza vaccinations. An annual flu vaccine is recommended for the following groups of Veterans: (1) persons at high risk for flu-related complications including persons aged 50 years old and greater, (2) persons of any age with chronic medical illnesses, such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease and (3) persons who live with or care for persons at high risk. (4) Anyone who lives in community living centers (nursing homes), (5) Women who will be pregnant during the flu season. Influenza vaccine is also recommended for anyone else who wants to reduce their chances of getting influenza.
No appointment necessary! ID cards and face masks required.

September 8 – November 20, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Beginning September 1, enrolled Veterans with VA healthcare can choose from more than 60,000 community locations to obtain their no-cost flu shot. Veterans may visit www.va.gov/communitycare/flushot.asp to find a current in-network location. Veterans must present their government-issued ID to receive a no-cost flu shot at an in-network location.
