Kerrville VA Medical Center is part of the South Texas Veterans Health Care System and located 65 miles Northwest of San Antonio.  Kerrville VA has a four unit community living center, seven Patient Aligned Care TEams (PACT), and Geriatric Evaluation Managment Clinic.  Kerrvile offers the following specialty care services:

Mental Health
Social Work
Home Based Primary Care
Respiratory Therapy
Physical Medicine and Rehabiliation Services

PRIMARY CARE:  Veterans access medical services through one of seven PACT, which consists of a primary care physician, nursing and administrative staff, who are supported by psychologists, dieticians, pharmacists and social workers.  Your PACT will coordinate your medical care and when needed, refer you to specialists for special tests or treatments.  Reports of any specialty care are returned to the primary care provider who will continue to coordinate your care. The PACTs are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding federal holidays.  If you need an appointment, or have questions in between appointments, your PACT will assist you by calling 877-537-7348 or you can use My Healthy Vet ( to request an appointment or send a secure message to your PACT. 

Our facility operating hours are 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. If you need urgent medical care during non-operating hours, please contact South Texas Veterans Health Care System's TeleCare number at 1-888-686-6350.

EMERGENCY CARE -This is not an emergency facility. If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or your local medical emergency system. If you need assistance in determining what is reimbursable urgent care, please read VA's emergency care page.


To see your PACT you should make an appointment in advance however, walk-in appointments are available on a case-by-case basis and but should be coordinated by calling the appointment line number above or using My Healthy Vet.


  • KC PACTs operate on scheduled appointments, please make sure you know the date and time of your next appointment before you leave the clinic.
  • It is requested you arrive at KC 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to allow time to park your car and register with the clerk.
  • You are encouraged to keep all scheduled appointments but please call 877-537-7348  if you need to cancel your appointments.  If possible, please reschedule at that time.  Scheduling hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Provide your current telephone number and address to the clerk at each visit and please bring all your insurance information.
  • If need an appointment and do not have one, please contact your PACT before you come to KC.  This can prevent unnecessary waiting when you arrive and sometimes your problem can be taken care of by phone and you can avoid a trip.


Telephone calls concerning health related matters or your medications are welcome.  If you call your PACT on the appointment line, or secure message them through My Healthy Vet, your concern will be managed by trained personnel.  You will be asked your name, last four numbers of your social security number, any symptoms and duration of illness and a telephone call-back number.  This information will be given to your PACT who will then call you back as soon as possible.  Please contact your PACT between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.   If your problem or concerns cannot be handled over the telephone, you will be told one of the following depending on the urgency:

 Call 911 if it is an emergency.

  1. Report to the nearest Emergency Room or Urgent Care Center (NOTE: KC does not have an emergency room or urgent care center.  If you go to a non-VA emergency room or to urgent care, ensure your PACT is notified within 72 hours.)
  2. Come to the clinic on that day (walk-in).
  3. An appointment will be scheduled in the next few days.


The KC has a Patient Advocate who will help you find the right solution to questions or concerns you have regarding your care.  The Patient Advocate is not a clinician but can assist in getting answers to questions you may have.  The Patient Advocate is located on the first floor, room 157, or call (210) 792-2414
