South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS)
STVHCS provides world class health care
South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) recently received accolades from an independent agency who completed an unannounced survey during the last week of August.
The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies more than 19,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States. Their accreditation and certification is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting certain performance standards.
Of particular note, during the Patient Safety Leadership session, the surveyors used a scoring tool to evaluate STVHCS and found the organization to meet all the requirements for “World Class” designation per the tool.
STVHCS scored better than the national average for all health care organizations which includes private sector as well as VA.
Mr. Lawrence Biro, VISN 17 Network Director sent the following message to STVHCS leadership and employees "I am impressed by the hard work, commitment, and attention to detail of the STVHCS staff…The results of the TJC survey confirm that STVHCS staff provides World Class care that is second to none. Your Veteran Centered Care efforts are an example for all to follow. Thank you."
