Be Involved In Your Health Care

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

There are many ways you can take an active role in your healthcare! First, plan ahead for your visit by writing down your questions and concerns, and share them with your provider at the beginning of your visit. Consider bringing a family member or friend with you. At your visit, give your treatment team accurate information about: your current health problems, your concerns about your health, past illnesses and hospitalizations, and medications you are taking. Participate in decisions about your health and let your provider know the treatments you prefer. Ask questions about anything that’s unclear to you. Between visits, gather information about your health conditions, and let your team know if you face obstacles to your care, or if your condition changes.
