STVHCS continues to make parking easier. With the recent addition of the employee parking garage, located off hospital grounds, more than 300 parking spaces became available onsite. We continue to provide valet service for our patients and their visitors, free of charge.
Our health care system
South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) is comprised of two inpatient campuses: the Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital in San Antonio and the Kerrville VA Hospital in Kerrville, Texas. STVHCS serves one of the largest primary service areas in the nation and is part of the VA Heart of Texas Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 17), with offices located in Arlington, Texas. With an FY12 budget for STVHCS of $605 million and more than 3,400 employees, South Texas provides health care services for 80,000 unique Veterans. In FY12, STVHCS provided almost 1,271,843 outpatient visits to area Veterans.
For your convenience and safety, we have special waiting areas throughout the facility. Please do not gather in the hallways or at the nurses' stations. We have an open visitation policy, without specific hours. However certain units have special requirements. Please check with nursing staff upon your arrival. Learn more on our Visiting Hours and Policies.
Our VA Police Service officers provide 24-hour patrols of the facility and parking lots. For general police assistance, please dial 210-617-5300 ext. 15168. In case of an emergency, dial ext. 15911 from inside the facility. Report all suspicious or criminal activity, vehicle accidents, and personal property losses to the VA Police while on the facility grounds as soon as possible.
Because VA hospitals are federal property, all persons and bags are subject to search. In addition, no weapons, alcohol, or illegal drugs are permitted.
