The South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) pharmacies fill approximately 6,000 prescriptions daily that are designated as first dosage supply of a medication. Subsequent fills or refills are sent, electronically, to our Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP). This is a large “warehouse” pharmacy that fills thousands of prescriptions, per day, for VA’s in the Southwestern U.S. Since the start of this policy, the pharmacy has been able to keep wait times for patients with new prescriptions to around 30 minutes. This has resulted in more parking slots open for patients with clinic visits.
Prescriptions may be refilled by the Internet, by telephone refill system, or by mail.
An automated refill line is available for all STVHCS patients.
Dial the refill hot-line: 1-800-209-7377
Please note: To use the telephone refill system, you must
have a touch-tone phone not a rotary phone.
All refills should be ordered at least two weeks prior to when the refill is due ensure prompt processing and delivery time.
Prescriptions may also be filled online using VA's MyHealtheVet program. You will need a user id and password to log in. If you do not have one, you can easily get one by creating your personal profile.
All Veterans are encouraged to refill their prescriptions by phone or Internet. Because of our patient workload, prescriptions cannot be refilled at the main STVHCS pharmacy window.
Out of Refills?
If your prescription is out of refills, you will need to contact your primary care provider for a new prescription.
Prescriptions from a Non-VA Provider
If you have a prescription from an outside provider and wish to have it filled at the VA, please review our dual-care policy.
Please visit MyHealtheVet for information about any prescription you may be taking.
All of the above services, except for the inpatient pharmacy, are closed on all federal holidays.
