“South Texas VA Wins Trophy”
SAN ANTONIO – It’s no secret, South Texas is home to award-winning health care and services for Veterans. This will be reinforced once again on Friday, October 29, when South Texas Veterans Health Care System leaders will bring home the coveted Robert W. Carey trophy.
The Robert W. Carey Performance Excellence Awards recognize Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) organizations with sustained high levels of performance and excellent service to Veterans. Award criteria align closely with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award criteria which are recognized as the standards for organizational excellence across the nation.
Former Army nurse, Marie L. Weldon, Director, South Texas Veterans Health Care System, remarked, “I am so proud of the health care we offer to Veterans at South Texas! We are committed to continuously seeking newer and better ways of improving the quality of life for the Veterans we serve.”
And area Veterans agree. “I thank God for my VA health care here in San Antonio!! I have had private, expensive health care that doesn't come close to this,” Monica Ruis Morton added on the South Texas Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/SanAntonioVAMC.) “I feel that my providers are extremely competent and caring professionals,” Monica continued. “Plus, they don't have to worry about overhead and all the things which can and do distract your doctor. I couldn't get better care anywhere.”
